King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals and Honeywell signed an agreement to establish a new integrated R&D facility at Dhahran Techno Valley. The agreement was signed by H.E. Dr. Khaled Al-Sultan and Mr. Norm Gilsdorf, President of Honeywell Process Solutions. The signing ceremony took place at the KFUPM-VIP Hall on October 25, 2009.
The Center is expected to be opened in the fourth quarter of 2010. It will house three Honeywell businesses: Honeywell Building Solutions, Honewell’s UOP, and Honeywell Process Solutions, which includes the recently acquired ENRAF and RMG Group. The new facility will help Honeywell better manage and strengthen existing relationships and R&D partnerships with KFUPM, while keeping proximity to its important clients in the energy industry.
HE Dr Khaled Al-Sultan remarked that this R&D center is a valuable addition in Dhahran Techno-Valley to work for our mutual benefit. KFUPM and Honeywell will pursue joint research and projects to develop new technologies and this facility will help train and employ the University students. Honeywell has already accepted six students to do their research work in the company. There are mutual interests between KFUPM and Honeywell in gas, nanotechnology and renewable energy, he noted.

Mr. Norm Gilsdorf said, “At Honeywell, we pride ourselves on our ability to develop innovative solutions and provide the latest technological expertise. In keeping with that spirit of innovation, it was only natural that Honeywell selected Dhahran Techno Valley at KFUPM as the location for our newest facility.” He further noted that Dhahran Techno-Valley is unique in the sense that it will allow us to achieve our objectives, while maintaining our partnerships in the Kingdom.
